Since we've got a few characters in the bar from "Sherlock," and possibly a few others from other Holmes'verse properties lurking around, I thought it was time for a plotting comm. Welcome!
I was half thinking of making Jim an actual modern professor for a bit, and then I thought setting him in the Old West would be fun. He'd enjoy that. But then, there's always pirates! Even as I type it scenarios explode to mind, and Sherlock would be into it.
Long story short; if we want to do something with everyone then I'm there, and will fit in with the majority.
I've never seen Deadwood, and I am lol'ing all over the place at the idea of Jim as a cowboy. I haven't thought this through as an AU week idea bc I was originally just going to fic it at some point. Jim would be a Jules Vern-era scientist probs sent over from the Royal Society with some experiment, but really there to spy on Sherlock/set up some crime whatever, probably with his pet sniper in tow.
But that was only ever a very vague thing, so I can adjust him to fit into anything people want to do.
Oh god, Deadwood is so good. It got all sorts of flack for having the frontiersmen (including Calamity Jane) swearing up a storm, because apparently swearing wasn't invented until the 70s.
I'm pretty flexible on what we do as well, because tbh, I'd probably go a bit more ACD!Mycroft either way. Fat, lazy, and and just kind of... there lol.
I was going to chuck Jim in the bar tonight because I'm back home now, but it looks like AU week has already kicked off - probs because Munnin's in an Australian time zone - so I might as well hold off until we've settled on something if we definitely want them to be in from the same AU. Which is always more fun than playing individually anyway. :D
Let's see if I can do this on my phone...

I haven't read these for a while. They're a lot more 'ship oriented than I
thought, but there might be some fun sceneries in there.
I did not know Munnin was in Australia. That explains a lot of things, actually, like why I can never seem to keep a thread going with them. If it's starting now, I'm gonna throw Wilford in later on, once I get back from all my running around.
I am DYING at so many of these HAHA. And also lol'ing because 'my roommate's best friend is really obnoxious but also hot' AU is practically canon, with a bit of tweaking. And now I can't stop laughing at the idea of Jim and John as roommates. Or the other way 'round, with Jim and John being best mates. Either way is GOLD, but would probably work better in-bar if John were actually around to play with.
Anyway, literally any of these could be really fun. I think it'd be really cute to have them as modern, and in a really far-removed situation from the norm. Like the pen-pal AU - they could have been writing for ages, and the bar provides a point where they meet. And either one of them could be the guy on the other end of tech support with a cute voice. But then - TIME TRAVEL. Jim, Sherlock and Mycroft could all be time-travelling adventurers, trying to outdo each other to find the coolest artefact from history/the future.
Gah. There are too many options and I want to play them all. *hands*
ROCKSTARS. HAHAHA. I didn't catch that one - and totes perfect, because I can get icons for that! I saw a play Andrew Scott did last week, where he was a rock star. That'd be pretty damn perfect. :D
Also giggling at the thought of a rock star AU. Maybe I could use a Dr
Strange icon and Sherlock is a glam rocker? Or he could be a
groupie/devoted fan, or even a journalist? my mind is abuzz.
So unless Molly-min weighs in eith a suggestion, shall we do a rock star AU?
Yessss, lets do it! I'm definitely going to chuck Jim in as a rockstar (hahaha ICONS, the joy, I cannot), and totes okay with whatever you fancy with Sherlock, whether it's rival star/bandmate/journo/fan/anything at all.
And if Mycroft is a micro-managing band manager, SO MUCH THE BETTER. Jim would both be a nightmare, and be somewhat under his thumb. Ahahaha, that could only be hilarious. :D
OMG, see if you can find a clip on YouTube of the "Baby's On Fire"
sequence. The parts where they're in stage is one of the hottest things
I've ever seen.
